Colonial Rhode Island
The Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations was founded on ideals of community, tolerance, and religious freedom--radical ideas at the time! These projects recognize the legacy of that founding, the leadership of Roger Williams, and early stories of what was to become the United States of America.
The first highlighted project, A Lively Experiment, is a critically acclaimed documentary created to celebrate the state’s 350th anniversary. The film details the history of the colony, the impact of the industrial revolution, and the achievements of famous Rhode Islanders.
The second project, A New Jerusalem, is an educational play dramatizing the history of Rhode Island. The play focuses on the colony's spirit of individual liberty and the separation of church and state.
